Drivers are reimbursed for their out of pocket expenses. Volunteers are also needed for the much needed service of friendly visiting. Volunteers are needed who are willing to give an hour of their time weekly to become a “friendly visitor” to lonely or isolated seniors. If you interested in volunteer transportation, or becoming a friendly visitor, call Sherry at (905) 372-7356.

FOURINFO.COM UPDATES
If your organization is currently on our database, you should have already received an update questionnaire and permission form for our new project “Fourinfo.com”. Fourinfo.com is a new information network that will eventually serve the four county area. Fourinfo.com will contain community services databases for the four counties of Northumberland, Peterborough, Victoria and Haliburton. This will allow community service information to be searchable and accessible via the web. If we have sent you our forms, please ensure that all the information we currently have on your organization is correct, and please remember to fill out the permission form so we can place your information on the Internet. We are also offering organizational memberships for $25. If you appreciate the work that info NORTHUMBERLAND produces, then please consider becoming a member. Member organizations will be included in a separate “volunteer opportunities” database.

“1000 Words…” EXHIBITION OPEN
“1000 Words” is a multi-generational project to celebrate the International Year of the Older Person. Throughout its ten week duration, seniors were partnered with younger people, especially children, to tell and record stories. The collected oral histories acted as a starting point for creating works of visual art in a variety of wet and dry media. The project is funded by the Ontario Seniors Secretariat under the Community Partnership Projects Program. Workshops have been held in various locations throughout Northumberland County, and the outcome of those workshops will be on display for all to see from November 20th 1999, to January 9th 2000. The opening reception will be held Sunday, November 21st from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Art Gallery. Dr. Doug Galt, MPP for Northumberland is scheduled to speak. The Art Gallery of Northumberland is located on the 3rd Floor, West Wing of Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West in downtown Cobourg. The Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. and Saturday 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
