CENTRE
FOR ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH ART SHOW
The Centre for Addiction and
Mental Health is currently showing their annual art exhibit entitled
"Images 2000". For the first time, works will be on display for a
year. The show will run to June 15th, 2001. Images 2000 is one of a series of
events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Queen St. Mental Health Centre,
and the 50th anniversary of the Addiction Research Foundation, and the 75th
anniversary of the founding of the University of Toronto's department of
psychiatry. A number of the Centre's artists have had formal art training while
others are self-taught. Some have had solo shows and exhibited in various
Toronto galleries; for others, this is their first public show. Forty-six works
will be displayed, chosen from 150 submissions. All artists whose work has been
selected are paid an exhibition fee and some of the work will be available for
sale. During last year's show, more than half the paintings were sold, with the
proceeds going directly to the artists. For more information about Images 2000,
